Whitby Shores Public School is located in Whitby, Ontario and serves students in Kindergarten through Grade 8.

At Whitby Shores Public School, our mission is to inspire all children to achieve their full potential academically, emotionally, physically and socially. We will work cooperatively to promote responsibility for self, caring for other people and the natural environment, and service to the local community and beyond.

Principal’s message

Welcome to Whitby Shores Public School!

Whitby Shores Public School is a part of the Durham District School Board. Situated in the Town of Whitby, east of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, our elementary school is located at 485 Whitby Shores Greenway near Lynde Marsh, Whitby Harbour and the shores of Lake Ontario. We have approximately 720 students in grades Kindergarten to 8.

The school’s setting provides students with excellent opportunities to learn how to make a difference in their community and build a strong environmental footprint. The building design includes an east-west orientation to maximize the use of sunlight as well solar-thermal water heating, a heat recovery unit, sun tunnels in the gym and a glass clerestory to allow natural light into the building. The school grounds incorporate landscaping with generous tree plantings, berms and four ‘outdoor classrooms.’

As with all of Durham’s schools, we are committed to promoting student success, well-being, leadership, equity, engagement and innovation. Whitby Shores students are always striving to be the best they can be both academically and in the world of extra-curricular’s. Teachers provide authentic learning opportunities that promote critical thinking, problem solving and creativity. We encourage self-awareness and students leading their learning. It is exciting to see student leadership in the classroom, around the school and on the court. 

We also have an active school community council, Schoolhouse play care, and parent involvement. We are very thankful for all their support throughout the school year. Whitby Shore’s community continues to have positive relationships that enhance the schools experience for all. Whitby shores is such an amazing school to come to everyday!!
